Emergencies

Our office provides on call service for emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for patients of record. You may call the office at 508-428-4929 and if we are closed, our answering service will contact a doctor. You will be called in a timely manner.

Telephone Calls To The Doctor

If you have a dental question that only the doctor can answer, a message will be taken and your dental file will be given to one of the doctors, who will return your call on the same day. If your question is non-medical, a qualified staff member will be pleased to assist you.

Dental Treatment Policies

According to the Massachusetts Board of Dentistry, dentists may not treat a patient on a episodic basis, but must evaluate and treat the patient only in a comprehensive manner. Emergency treatment may be provided, but as soon as the emergency condition is stabilized, the Board demands a complete evaluation and global treatment plan. A patient who will not submit to full evaluation and treatment planning should be dismissed from the practice with a notation in the record reflecting refusal of comprehensive care. Dismissal should entail a written offer of continuing service for emergency and follow up treatment for at least thirty days.

Sterilization

We take the following protective measures (exceeding those recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Dental Association).

  • Wear gloves, masks protective eyewear and clothing.
  • Wash our hands with disinfectant soaps before and after treating each patient.
  • Change our gloves after each patient.
  • Sterilize dental instruments and handpieces after each use.
  • Clean and disinfect the surfaces and equipment in the treatment area.
  • Use disposable products wherever possible to eliminate cross-infection.
  • Handle all disposable materials according to federal, state, and local guidelines.

According to leading authorities, the risk of contracting serious infectious diseases during a dental visit is extremely remote. Due to the measures we take to eliminate disease transmission, you can feel confident both in receiving dental care here and in referring family and friends to us.

If you have any questions regarding our infection control measures, please ask the doctor or any staff member. We will be happy to explain all procedures and safeguards.
